The entire route for the 10K and 5K is downhill!  (Except for the uphill parts!)

STORYTIME CHALLENGE:

The Storytime Challenge will take place on the track at Millennium Middle School.  A volunteer will be assigned to each participant and will count their laps as they go around the track.  At the 20 minute mark, the start line turns into the finish line.  Once the finish horn goes off, any athlete that crosses the line is finished, and will be given their award.  If you cross the line before the horn goes off, you can finish your lap!

Parents or caregivers are allowed on the track with their athlete, if desired.  But, no carrying, dragging, or pushing allowed!  OK…you can, but only if absolutely necessary!  For our younger participants, strollers are welcome, but please stay to the outside of the track.

Hint from the Race Director:  Run on the inside lane of the track as much as you can…I think it’s shorter that way!  That’s what I’d do anyway!

WALKERS:

* Walkers will only be allowed to use the 5K route.
* Walkers should always do their best to yield to runners.
* Walkers will receive a specially crafted bib (number) to identify them with fancy colors and diamond studding (or
maybe their bibs will just be marked with a colored magic marker, depending on budget constraints!).
* Walkers are not allowed to run!  You are on your honor.  What’s the difference between walking very fast and running?  Let’s just say that if we see you beating a deer down the path there’s a pretty good chance you’re running!
* Have fun!  Hopefully creating a Walkers division will add a little excitement and lots of awards!  The first male and female Walkers to finish will receive the same award as the 10K Runners and 5K Runners!
* Walkers will start at the same time as the 5K and 10K runners, but please line up toward the back.

Remember, with our timing chips on your feet, your time really starts when you cross the start line, not when the horn sounds!

SAFETY:

Baby strollers, baby joggers, and the like are allowed provided you line up in the back and keep a safe distance from other runners while on the course.  Pursuant to the Race Director, bicycles, skateboards, in-line skaters, roller skates, scooters, and any other wheeled apparatuses except wheelchairs and baby joggers are not allowed on the course.  Violators will be removed from the course at the Race Director’s discretion.
