Another great year at the Book’n Trilogy!

It’s amazing to think that last Saturday was the 5th time we’ve heard a fire truck blow their horn to start the annual Book’n Trilogy run to benefit our Library!  What started out as a very small 5K, has grown into both a 5K and 10K run, known not only for being an awesome family event, but a pretty quick course as well!  And this year our weather FINALLY didn’t threaten rain!

Our 5K and 10K men and women winners came in at awesome times, and again we had a very successful competitive walk event. (I still don’t know how those guys can walk faster than I can run!)  And the children’s Storytime Challenge boasted a number of incredible little athletes, working hard to make their way around the track, time after time, in a fierce battle with a relentless clock!  But just as importantly, all of our participants pulled off incredible runs, many running the distance for the first time; it always amazes me to see the look of pure joy on a runners’ face as they see the magical line marked “FINISH!”  A few minutes to catch their breath, then off for a replenishing pancake breakfast, hosted by our Library staff!

I would like to again thank each and every participant, and each and every volunteer that has helped make this event a tradition in South Lyon; another example of how our library enriches all of our lives. And don’t forget to mark your calendar for Saturday, May 19, 2012!
